Bamiyan Cultural Center

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION ENTRY.

The project itself aims to use the collective deductive reasoning of the local community as a design processes through participatory space modeling, rather than unilaterally impose an architectural design. The space is defined by a wooden free form structure that uses traditional joints and configuration and shelters in the first place the auditorium and utilities, remaining to shelter the rest of the functions once their position is decided. The Cultural Center itself is treated as an evolving organism during its life, starting with its inception and making sure that it can adapt to changing needs of its users, the modular system providing design flexibility, the possibility of extension or just form and function change.
