Pavilion Village Museum Sighetu Marmatiei

Multifunctional building that houses exhibition and recreation spaces, multifunctional room, laboratories, workshops and warehouses.

The main intention of the project was the use of adaptive, malleable architectural language sensitive to spatial and cultural conditioning, resulting in a coherent implementation in the landscape.

The building itself underlines the cultural identity and the expression of the place, to integrate into the general landscape of the museum complex as well as the natural suroundings.

The proposed object incorporates design elements of traditional Maramures architecture in a modern way, using traditional shapes and materials that remind of the heritage of the area combining them with modern finishes and technologies.

The building is meant to blend into the suroung landscape. The partial bury of the building was aimed at minimizing the discrepancy between the gauge of the proposed object, which is inevitably more generous due to the functions hosted and the scale of the other exhibits on the complex. The approach used offers, besides the advantages of the docile integration in the landscape, benefits from the point of view of energy saving and is part of the trend of "green architecture". Contemporary energy saving systems will be used in particular, and in addition to modern technologies, the project can also address various ideas from the vernacular of the area.
